Akeek Pishti (also known as Akik Pishti) is a classical Ayurvedic mineral preparation made from Agate (a variety of Quartz/Silica). Like other “Pishtis,” it is prepared by grinding the gemstone with herbal juices and rose water, making it a “cool” and gentle alternative to Bhasmas (calcined powders).

Composition & Preparation

• Primary Ingredient: Shuddha Akeek (Purified Agate/Quartz).

• Processing Agents: Ground meticulously with Rose Water (Gulab Arka). Some traditional methods also involve juices of Aloe Vera, Banana Stem, and Ketaki to enhance its medicinal properties.

• Form: It is a micro-fine, off-white to greyish powder.

Key Therapeutic Uses

Akeek Pishti is primarily a Pitta-pacifying medicine, meaning it cools the body and calms the mind.

• Cardiac Tonic: Strengthens heart muscles and is used to manage palpitations, tachycardia, and mild hypertension.

• Coolant for the Mind: Helps relieve anxiety, depression, and mental fatigue. It is often used for “hot-headed” temperament or stress-related headaches.

• Digestive Soother: Effective in treating hyperacidity, heartburn, gastritis, and ulcerative colitis by lining the stomach and reducing internal heat.

• Eye Health: Used to treat burning sensations in the eyes and vision issues related to excess body heat.

• Women’s Health: Often prescribed for excessive uterine bleeding (Raktapradar) and leucorrhea.

Safety & Precautions

• Pitta Balance: While it is very cooling, people with extremely high Kapha (excess mucus/coldness) should use it cautiously.
